Instructions
1 _ Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2 _ In a medium bowl, combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter with a pastry blender (or 2 forks) until mixture is crumbly. Press evenly into a 9x13 baking pan lined with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
3 _ In a large bowl, beat cream cheese with ¾ cup sugar in an electric mixer at medium speed until smooth. Then add eggs, 1 at a time, and vanilla. Stir to combine. Pour over warm crust.
4 _ In a small bowl, stir together chopped apples, remaining 2 tablespoons sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spoon evenly over cream cheese mixture.
5 _ For the streusel topping: In a small bowl, combine all ingredients. I like to really combine it by using my clean hands to thoroughly combine the butter into the mixture.
6 _ Sprinkle Streusel topping over apples. Bake 40-45 minutes, or until filling is set. Drizzle with caramel topping and let cool. Serve cold and enjoy! Make 16 servings.
Enjoy!

DeleteThe apples would be sweeter than the granny smith, so you might cut out some of the added sugar.

ReplyDeleteI'll try it with as little sugar as possible. Fortunately I like things much less sweet, since I'm diabetic. I'll probably use a variety of tart cooking apples.
ReplyDeleteU can also substitute the regular Bron sugar for spend brown suar. Same with the white sugar.

DeleteCan this be made with the no-egg cheesecake mix? I have an egg allergy.
ReplyDeleteI would try apple sauce instead of the chunks of apples. I like my apples really soft

ReplyDeleteMine is in the oven. I used 5 med sized apples. My concern was all the butter. AM taking it to church today, and I will get lots of comments. I thought the crust and stressed topping would have crumbled better with less butter.
ReplyDeleteMy crust and topping did not crumble and I'm thinking I should have used butter instead of margarine as margarine has vegetable oil in it and may have made it creamer.

I just took this out of the oven! I used 2 cans of Apple pie filling and mixed in a bit of the spices. I won't know until it cools, how it tastes, but everything looks and smells amazing!! :)

ReplyDeleteAnd? Did it taste great?
ReplyDeleteYES! And so easy!I added the Caramel sauce at serving time to the individual pieces. It was hard to let it cool completely, but worth it! :D lol
ReplyDeleteCan't have oats in it , can you substitute more flour?
ReplyDeleteDoes this require three 8oz packages of cream cheese? 24 oz?? Or just an 8oz single package ?? Thanks
ReplyDeleteThe recipe says three 8-oz. packages of cream cheese.
DeleteI made these last year at Christmas time and they were delicious. I cut them and served them as squares so didn't put any caramel sauce on top thinking this would be too messy, and really they were quite rich enough. If I were to serve on a plate as a single dessert I would add the caramel sauce and probably a dollop of ice cream!
ReplyDeleteHow did you get a piece out and not have tin foil stick to it
DeleteHow long do you cook these for? What temp.??

ReplyDeleteHi Mw, I didn't use the tin foil. A glass baking dish and there is enough butter in the base, that it won't stick.
DeleteThese were absolutely awesome. Only one thing they wanted to stick to the aluminum foil.
