Cookie Dough Brownies

Ingredients

SERVINGS 18 YIELD 1 9x13 pan
Brownies
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 3⁄4 cups flour
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
Cookie Dough
  • 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
  • 1⁄2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1⁄4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
Glaze
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil

Instructions

1 _ For brownies, melt shortening and chocolate.

2 _ Transfer to large mixing bowl.

3 _ Blend in sugar, eggs and vanilla.

4 _ Add flour, salt and baking powder.

5 _ Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes in a 9x13 pan (grease bottom of pan).

6 _ Cool completely.

7 _ For the cookie dough, cream the butter and sugars till fluffy.

8 _ Add remaining ingredients, blending well.

9 _ Spread over cooled brownies.


10 _ Combine glaze ingredients in a small bowl.

11 _ Microwave just until the chocolate is melted (about 1 min.), stir till smooth.

12 _ Spoon glaze over cookie dough and spread carefully to cover.

13 _ Sprinkle with chopped walnuts, if desired (I don't).

14 _ Store in the refrigerator.
